    About us

    Background to Group

    The MRC Hearing and Communication Group, formed at the University of Manchester in 2004 and part of the Audiology and Deafness Research Group, is one of Europe’s foremost centres of excellence in hearing research.

    It comprises a diverse and multi-disciplinary body of experts in a number of fields, currently including audiologists, health visitors, midwives, specialist nurses, epidemiologists, statisticians, project managers, geneticists, psychologists, IT specialists, education advisors and administration staff.

    As well as carry out world-leading research, the group is actively involved in putting this into effective clinical practice throughout the NHS. Many important projects are currently based here. Projects summary
